Hello there!
Since I started Capital Pediatric Nutrition back in 2017, I’ve been working on building my business, supporting families in the Washington, D.C. area who need guidance, from the most basic nutrition questions to the most complex.
But now I want to start using my website and social media accounts (follow me on Instagram!) to share my advice with parents who feel like they’re struggling to provide for their children’s nutritional needs. So I figured it was about time that I officially introduce myself and tell you a little bit about me.
My own family tells me that I am not only obsessed with cooking, but also with feeding those around me (and they don't seem to mind). I even joke that my husband probably had multiple vitamin deficiencies before he met me and started receiving daily nutritional consults from his personal dietitian (i.e., me). I remind him every day to eat all the colorful fruits and veggies! Working with him has been great practice for my business.
I’ve been working on my career as a dietitian for a long time. Unlike your typical high-schooler, I decided early on that I wanted to become a Registered Dietitian and work specifically with children. With my plan set, I went on to study dietetics at the University of Maryland (go Terps!), and I have to say all those miserable chemistry classes were soooo worth it!
From there, I was fortunate enough to be accepted to the Dietetic Internship at the National Institutes of Health, and I am thankful for the rigorous training I received while I was there. I clearly can't get enough of pediatric nutrition as I've been surrounded by experts at Children's National in Washington, D.C. ever since. And then I started my private practice a few years ago to reach even more kids and share my advice for feeding your family.
I hope this blog will be another way for me to connect with families and to answer all of your nutrition questions. Check back soon for a blog post about the services I provide.
P.S. Aren't my niece and nephew just adorable?!
